1in32 is a powerful community documentary born in Brent a film created by local people, for local people and in the hope of creating a positive change.
It brings together ten community reporters, forty-two interviews, and one shared vision: to tell the untold stories of Brent through empathy, creativity and connection.
Launched at a fully booked premiere at The Lexi Cinema, 1in32 is now exploring screenings in community venues to spark conversations about belonging, power and what it means to thrive together.
🌍 A Grassroots Film Rooted in Brent
The 1in32 journey began when ten community reporters each with unique ties to Brent teamed up to explore what makes this borough special.
Armed with curiosity and compassion, they recorded 42 interviews with residents from every walk of life.
They asked three simple but powerful questions:
- What do you love about Brent?
- What needs to change?
- How can we build a kinder, fairer, more connected future together?
Through conversations and workshops, we shaped these voices into an 20-minute grassroots documentary directed by Hannah Oliver.
The film captures the humour, resilience and humanity that define life in one of London’s most diverse communities.

We’re proud of what 1in32 has achieved — but this is only the beginning.
To share the film more widely, we’re raising funds for a second, festival-ready edit that will:
- Improve accessibility with captions and better sound design
- Strengthen narrative flow and pacing
- Prepare the film for UK and international film festivals
This next stage will help amplify community voices and ensure the film reaches audiences beyond Brent — from schools and universities to civic forums and cultural events.
